Monday means it’s the start of another school week. I need to teach, preach, and handle any situations that may arise because students can get crazy sometimes. A while back, I was getting over a head cold and could feel the bad day that was to be. It was just before my Bible class that I had to pray to the Lord amidst this bad day.
“God, would you get rid of my headache? Lord, please let this be a good day. Father, thank you for getting me here today and thank you that I get to preach the Gospel. Use me as a vessel. Help me to show these kids what you came to do and the work that was finished on the cross…”
After this, it was time to preach back to back. My head was still pounding. I was dizzy. I had trouble finding words at times. And if you think that the second teaching of the same thing went better than the first, you’re wrong. I left that classroom feeling awful. After all, it was a bad day. I get into my car to grab some lunch and I realize something: I just preached the Gospel. I communicated that Jesus is God incarnate and died for us all. I encouraged students to accept this into their lives. I had an impact on lives and the Kingdom of God on this day.
That means that this bad day, was used by God and is actually good, because Jesus was preached.
The rest of the day went on and there was plenty of other things to complain about or find wrong with the day, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how good God was to me in spite of a bad day. Out of all the bad days I’ve had, this was a good bad day! Can you say the same amidst your bad days? Will you rejoice and be glad in the day that the Lord has made for you? In your suffering and weakness can you boast in the Cross that you savior did an ultimate work on? I pray that I can continue this discipline everyday. Join me in rejoicing in the tough times.
Romans 5:2-5 (ESV)
"Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
